Theresa “Tessa” Rinker, MD, FAAP

Dr. Theresa Rinker joined the team of dedicated pediatricians at Health Care for Children as a native to the Liberty community. She graduated from Liberty High School and went on to earn her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia School of Medicine in 2003.

After graduation from medical school, Dr. Rinker trained in pediatrics for three years at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. A Board Certified Pediatrician, Theresa is a children’s doctor with a special interest in patient and parent education, infectious diseases, and developmental issues. She has been practicing at Health Care for Children since 2006.

Dr. Rinker and her family are thrilled to be a part of the wonderful Liberty community.

Amanda Zinger, MD, FAAP

Dr. Amanda Zinger came to Health Care for Children after completing her pediatric residency at Children's Mercy in June 2021. She is originally a Minnesota native but spent 8 years at St. Louis University for undergraduate and medical schools. She has spent the last 3 years here in Kansas City and is excited to remain in the Northland. She looks forward to working with families to provide comprehensive care for their children. In her free time, she enjoys trying new recipes, playing board games and yoga. Dr. Amanda Zinger is accepting new patients!

Shauni Lawrence, CPNP-PC

Shauni Lawrence is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who has recently joined the team at Health Care for Children! She completed her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Missouri - Kansas City in 2021. Shauni is also certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.

Prior to joining Health Care for Children, Shauni worked inpatient at Children's Mercy in Kansas City, Missouri specializing in the care of children with kidney issues, liver issues, and needing rehabilitation.

Growing up in the northland, public health and community involvement are two important pieces of her practice. Shauni is so excited to see some of the best patients!

Kelsey Freshour, CPNP-PC

Kelsey Freshour obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing right down the road from Health Care for Children at William Jewell College. After graduating, she worked for five years at Children's Mercy Hospital as an inpatient nurse working primarily with the pediatric hematology and oncology population. Kelsey continued her education and obtained her Master of Science in Nursing through Maryville University Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program and is certified through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.

Kelsey is passionate about educating families about their child's developmental milestones placing importance that every child is their own unique individual and this should be at the forefront of providing care. She has a special interest in working with children with special needs. In her free time, she enjoys going on adventures with her husband and two daughters. Kelsey is ecstatic to work at Health Care for Children and be able to give back to the Northland where she grew up.

Alex Monachino, CPNP-PC

Alexandria (Alex) Monachino joined the team of devoted pediatric practitioners at Health Care for Children because of her desire to give back to the community she grew up in. She has lived in the northland most of her life and graduated from St. Pius X High School.

She then went on to become a nurse at Children's Mercy specializing in children that require care for kidney problems, liver problems, and physical rehabilitation. She attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City where she obtained her Master of Science in Nursing. She is board certified in Pediatric Primary Care awarded by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. She practiced as a nurse practitioner at Children's Mercy and now has the incredible opportunity to return home and serve her community.

Alex is thrilled to be a part of this amazing team and promote health and wellness in her community!
